This post might seem very strange to any of you beautiful bronzed goddesses out there, but my pale girls know where I am going with this and we got to have each other’s back! As you know, I grew up in California and every time we went down to Mexico for vacation, we literally had to set aside an entire day to sit inside and do nothing because we knew one of us gringos would be too sunburnt to go outside. I have now implemented a system for planning my daily vacation outfits based on where I will have gotten the most sun exposure (and most likely burned) the previous day. It has saved me countless hours of being embarrassed about my lobster shoulders and has taken out the struggle of burning on top of a previous day’s burn!
To all my fellow pasty friends, the below guide will be a life saver for these final days of summer and any future vacations to Cancun!
DAY 1: LOW CUT DRESS WITH LOW BACK
You won’t get any sun exposure on your shoulders but you will on your back and chest. This is a perfect look for shopping or lounging at the beach and it is a really great start to your vacation with just a bit of a chest/back tan.
DAY 2: MUSCLE TEE
This will be the inverse sun exposure from yesterday since you will get a slight
tan on your shoulders but not on your chest or back. You can sport this look while walking around town or taking a hike. Still be sure to sunscreen under your tee and shorts because UV rays can penetrate cotton clothing fairly easily! (Believe me, I got a reverse farmers tan from this once!)
DAY 3: CROPPED CREW NECK (3/4 SLV OR LONG SLEEVED)
This is the “no more sun” day as you will be getting little to no sun exposure. This is a great day to spend a lot of time outdoors, like hiking or kayaking. This is great for preventing any over exposure to the sun and give your skin a break from drying out. This look still has an open back though so you can still show off a cute bralette and a hint of skin!
DAY 4: STRAPPY LOW FRONT/BACK (BRALETTE, CAMI COMBO)
And finally your lovely skin can breath again in an open look with this cami and bralette combo. No one wants to spend their whole vacation hiding in the shade and after building up your skin all week you should be able to prevent a burn by the fourth day (again with the use of sunscreen still)!
I hope that this post was helpful to my pasty buds out there! But in all seriousness I also hope that everyone out there remembers the importance of wearing sunscreen everyday!!! Especially on your face and upper body where your skin is thinnest! Here are a few of my favorite sunscreens here
, and here
Enjoy these transient days of summer safely!!! Do you have any important sunscreen tips?
